I was just coming over here to say the same thing as silveraspen: absolutely, turn them on!
I'd personally be more likely to do the ko-fi thing, so I could adjust monthly as needed. But it certainly sounds like ghost is a good option, and I like the idea of being able to help. This shouldn't be an extra burden on you.
Thank you for letting me know! Also thank you in general for all the feedback you've been giving. It's been so helpful for me and is much appreciated =)
I'm @silveraspen on twitter but figured to put this here for transparency/conversation? I enjoy reading your thoughts and I appreciate you doing so much to find a good way to share them that's mindful of the ethics, too. I see no problem with turning on paid subscriptions as an option to give people the choice. I'd be more likely to drop something in a ko-fi from time to time than commit to a(nother) subscription, so I like that option too at least personally. Anyway, thanks for writing and sharing!
Thank you for letting me know! Both about the donation options and that I'm not annoying people with these updates about the situation, which my anxiety insists that I am doing. ;)
I get what you mean about the subscription. That's part of why I was thinking of offering both options. Ko-Fi for people who might want to help but who don't want yet another subscription, but also subscriptions for people who might want a "set it and forget it" option, if that makes sense.
